The Western Highlands is another marvelous land that covers around 30,000 km² of Cameroon and is located in the central-western portion of the Cameroon. Often referred to as the Grass Fields, it is a continuation of Mount Cameroon extending along the western border of Cameroon. At an average 1400m altitude, it’s among the most picturesque regions offering spectacular views on the undulating landscape.

Annual festivals are occasions to demonstrate and exhibit their cultural, artistic, and folkloric treasures as examplified by colorful customs, dances, singing, music, masks and various rituals. The museum of chiefdoms take you back in time through the labyrinthe of various secret societies, religious and mystical beliefs, rituals, custom and tradition of the region.

This region is also caracterised by the strong traditional culture that persists among the Bamileke and the other major ethnic group and constitutes a major cultural attraction for people visiting the Western Highlands.
